The Sandalford Winery was founded in 1840, on the banks of Perth’s Swan River, and is Western Australia’s largest and oldest privately owned wine company. The present owners, Peter and Debra Prendiville acquired Sandalford in 1991 from overseas interests and have poured more than $6 million into the operation. Their Margaret River Vineyards are now 33 years old and are the source of the Company’s fruit for its premium wines which are made by Chief Winemaker Paul Boulder. Paul has had extensive experience in McLaren Vale, Mornington Peninsula, Bordeaux and Spain, so its hardly surprising that he's producing sophisticated wines.
An outstanding Margaret River Cabernet. Opaque black crimson colour with black purple hue. Superb nose of violets, blackcurrant, cedar, liquorice and spice producing a perfumed lift. The palate is beautifully structured, with flavours of blackcurrant, liquorice, confectionary and cedar, showing a perfect tannin balance. Very long aftertaste of cedar, blackcurrant and spice.
