2003 Red Edge Heathcote Shiraz

The Red Edge vineyard was established in 1971, planted on Cambrian earth. Yields are minuscule at one tonne per acre. The wine has neither been fined nor filtered.Very deep crimson colour with deep crimson mauve hue. Aroma of white pepper, black and red currents, spice and blackberry followed by an earthy end note. The palate has great weight with fine grained dry tannins, chalky but finely balanced to the fruit. Flavours of plum and stewed fruit, followed by a hint of confectionary and liquorice, with confectionary and violet infusions back palate flavours. The firmish tannins persist into the aftertaste.
