2003 Quinta do Vallado Vinho Tinto

This very Australian looking and tasting wine has been made from a variety of Portuguese grapes including Tinta Barroca, Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca and Touriga Nacional e Sousao. The colour is reflective of the sort of saturation one expects from McLaren Vale or even Heathcote. Totally opaque black purple colour with black purple hue. Lifted nose with cherry liquorice top notes followed by spice and violets. The palate reveals inky cherry and spice flavours over a cherry liquorice background. With hints of coffee and mocha emerging. Fine, dry persistent tannins.
