2003 O'Leary Walker Watervale Riesling

This wine has been made from 45 year old Riesling vines. Bright straw colour. The nose shows promise, with impressive lift and notes of lemon/lime and ripe pear over a subtle floral background. The palate reverts to the high acidic wines of past vintages, unlike the superb example from 2002 – the O’Leary Walker Polish Hill Riesling. The acidity engages quickly on the palate and is there to stay, leaving the fruit quite subdued. Lemon flavours are dominant and remain well into the aftertaste.
