Notes sourced from Grosset

As in previous years forty percent whole bunches were added to each of the tiny fermenters which were plunged by foot every five hours. Immediately after pressing, the wine was run into barrels (sixty percent new French barriques) and left on its gross lees for 12 months.
Once again, the Grosset Pinot, from the central Adelaide Hills region, shows the benefit of coming from mature vines. It has a richness, concentration and depth of flavour and a fleshiness of texture which only comes once the vines have passed the first flush of youth. The 2003 Grosset Pinot Noir is very much in the established style: delicately scented with intense sweet blackberry and wild raspberry complexed by some savoury beetroot and truffle flavours. Expect these to develop into earthy, gamey, forest-floor characters with bottle age. This is a vibrant, medium-bodied pinot with clear varietal character, a silky texture and a gentle, fine, lingering finish. It ranks among the best produced by Jeff Grosset and so deserves a place among the top examples of Australian pinot noir.
Just 300 cases were produced.
