2003 Green Point Chardonnay

Green Point wines are made by Domaine Chandon as an adjunct to their sparkling wine range. The brand has never really caught the imagination of the consumer and that is probably due to the perception that Chandon is first and foremost a sparkling wine producer, and that Green Point is a bit of an afterthought. The current range is well made, as expected, but does not deliver any high points.

Brilliant straw colour with pale straw hue. The nose reveals some barrel ferment character, with aroma of cashew, yeast lees, biscuit and hazelnut. Creamy palate texture. Flavours of citrus, melon and fig emerge followed by a hint of spicy oak and cantaloupe. Dry finish.
