Phillip Jones has sourced grapes for this wine from contracted growers with vines being at least 10 years old, cropped low and non irrigated. The wine has been matured in Allier oak casks.
The colour is impressive, with an almost opaque density, rarely seen from Pinot Noir. Very deep crimson, with brick red hue. The nose is impressive, displaying a rare ‘animal/game’ note, which is counter pointed with strawberry, spice and cherry endnotes, showing strong varietal character. The palate flavour profile builds slowly, with flavours of stewed cherries and spice dominant. Fine, dry but balanced tannins. The power wave builds slowly as the wine warms up. The wine has a distinct Burgundian quality backbone, which is not easy to find at this price point. Very long and persistent spicy aftertaste.
