2003 De Bortoli Windy Peak Sangiovese

Very deep crimson colour with deep crimson hue. The nose offers an impressive sniff, with aroma of ripe cherries, vanilla, liquorice allsorts and violets. The palate is generous, exhibiting none of that ‘Italian leanness’ that is apparent in most examples of the variety. Flavours of white pepper and blackberry, followed by cherry and spice, showing plenty of ripe fruit flavours. Fine grained tannins, followed by an aftertaste of blackberry, cherry, spice, black pepper and liquorice allsorts. An excellent example of Sangiovese.
