This wine makes a great comparison with the recent release of the Warrabilla Durif. Readers of Vintage Direct will recall our cover story and in particular the comments regarding alcohol and flavour profiles. The Date Brothers Durif is at 14.5% and clearly misses its maximum flavour potential, whereas the Warrabilla sits at 16% Alc/Vol and delivers maximum flavour with no hint of hot alcohol.
Outstanding black purple mauve colour with deep purple hue, but without the depth of the Warrabilla. Perfumed nose of violets, hints of liquorice, morello cherry and plum. The palate does not have the length or depth of flavour of the Warrabilla and the tannins are quite dry and assertive, persisting into the aftertaste.
Cellar 4-5 years (2009-2010)
