A classic example of Octavius.

A magnificent Octavius.  Totally opaque black purple colour with black purple hue.  Perfumed nose of violets, spice, vanilla and blackberry.  The palate delivers superb mouthfeel and concentration of flavour showing considerable refinement.  Flavours of blackberry, violet infusions, vanilla and anise.  There are layers of back palate flavours with liquorice allsorts, spice and vanilla supported by velvet tannins which are perfectly balanced and overlaid with some toasted oak.
Alc/Vol: 14%

Other Reviews….
A spectacular effort, the 2002 Shiraz The Octavius (100% old vine Shiraz aged 22 months in both French and American wood) is a noteworthy successor to the phenomenal 2001 released last year. Aromas of figs, chocolate, blackberry and cassis liqueur, roasted meats, and barbecue spice emerge from this hugely extracted, full-bodied monster. Reminiscent of some Grange Hermitage cuvees from the early seventies, it is a wine of supreme quality, with a singular personality as well as 20-25 years of aging potential.
