"...a very sophisticated red from Happs"

ERL HAPP has produced a unique red. The components of this wine are vinified and matured separately and only assembled together after a year of maturation in French oak. Erl states that “herbaceous flavours play a relatively minor role in fruit from Three Hills, despite the cooler later ripening temperatures in mid to late April. This is due in part to the fact that the vines do not get the bums rush in the final stages of ripening that occurs in the warmer climes and also perhaps the open and spacious canopy.” This is a very sophisticated red from the Happs Vineyard.

Made from the traditional Bordeaux varieties of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot. Very deep crimson colour with deep mauve hue. Lifted nose – showing strong varietal notes. Perfumed lift of blackcurrant, cassis, cedar and violets. The palate is mouthfilling, again showing strong Bordeaux like flavour profile. Blackcurrant, spice, cedar and cassis fill the palate – generous ripe fruit. Excellent length and depth. Fine grained tannins, perfect balance with long aftertaste of blackcurrant and spice.
