Cousins, MARTIN SHAW and MICHAEL HILL SMITH started making wine in 1989 – their initial focus was Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, which was made from fruit sourced from the Adelaide Hills. Today their repertoire has expanded to Shiraz, Merlot and Riesling. The objective was to make wines that stood out in the market as great examples of the variety. Martin Shaw remains the wine maker, whilst cousin Michael focuses on the marketing and promotion, being well qualified as Australia’s first Master of Wine.

TASTING NOTE: A magnificent Chardonnay. Brilliant straw colour with subtle green hue. Superb nose of biscuit, melon, fig, cashew and yeast lees, showing excellent layers of complexity. The palate is mouthfilling, with flavours of yeast lees, cashews, fig and melon overlaid with nuances of citrus and toasted oak. Outstanding length and depth. Creamy texture, perfect acid balance with exceptionally long aftertaste of yeast lees, biscuit and cashews.
