Winemaker Andrew Seppelt pays tribute to his great grand parents – Benno Seppelt who founded the Seppelt wine company. Opaque black crimson colour with black crimson hue. Perfumed nose of violets, dark chocolate, spice and vanilla. There is a touch of restraint to be found on the palate, but nonetheless the flavour profiles emerge. The Mataro provides an inky plum, raspberry jube characteristic over a layer of liquorice and blackberry. Fine grained tannins, excellent balance followed by a liquorice, raspberry, inky plum and vanilla aftertaste.
Cellar 3-4 years (2008-2009)
