2002 Mitchelton Blackwood Park Merlot

A very tight wine which needs time for the tannins to drop out. Opaque black purple colour with crimson hue. Lifted nose of violets, spice, mulberry and blackcurrant. On the palate the fruit flavours are overwhelmed by fine, but very firm tannins. Flavours of blackberry, blackcurrant, mulberry and spice emerge. The firmish dry tannins persist very long into the aftertaste.
