"Fleshy, lusty, full bodied with an impressively long finish." - Robert Parker

MARK MAXWELL and his family established Maxwell wines in 1979 and for many years were best known for their Honey Mead (which is still available.) The Ellen Street Shiraz is made from thirty year old vines and is aged for eighteen months in American oak hogsheads. An excellent, full bodied Shiraz. Produced from 30 year old vines and aged for 18 months in American oak. Almost opaque in colour with black crimson colour and deep crimson hue. Aroma of violets and spice followed by chocolate, black pepper and blackberry, producing an impressive sniff. Big, mouthfilling ‘joosy’ palate loaded with the flavours of ripe blackberry and spice, followed by a black pepper background. Fine, soft tannins, perfectly balanced with long aftertaste of spice and blackberry.
Cellar 3-4 years (2008-2009)
Alc/Vol: 14.5%
