2002 Kaesler Vintage Port (500ml) Touriga Nacional

...unctuously-textured, but not overly sweet

An outstanding example of a Vintage Port style made from classic Portuguese grapes. Very deep black crimson purple colour with deep crimson hue. Perfumed top note of marzipan and liquorice followed by a lifted brandy spirit end note. The palate has excellent weight and mouthfeel. Flavours of liquorice, cherry jam, vanilla and black cherry infusions are evident. Outstanding length and depth. Perfect balance with very fine, dry tannins. Very long aftertaste of cherry jam and marzipan with a warm spicy finish lingering.

The 2002 Fortified, made from 100% Touriga Nacional, offers up aromas of scorched earth, licorice, blackberries, and roasted coffee. Thick, unctuously-textured, but not overly sweet, this impressive Fortified should evolve for more than a decade.
