2002 Hidden Spirits Blair Athol 11 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Another terrific selection from indie bottler, Andrea Ferrari. Distilled in 2002 and matured in an x-bourbon cask before bottling in 2014 at 48% ABV. Blair Athol is known as the signature malt of the Bell's blend, the most popular blended whisky in the UK. The house style is typically rich, spiced, gingery and nutty.

Tasting note: [20ml sample] Engaging and delightful aromas evoke shortbread, buckwheat pancakes and manuka honey with brief air contact adding butterscotch and trace spearmint. An oily, waxy delivery hinting at candied fruits, a juicy middle and delicate spice, dried grass, semi-ripe pineapple and dark chocolate notes at the finish. Excellent length. Wonderfully different. 48% Alc./vol.
