The sons of Lorraine and Neil Ashmead have put this wine out as a tribute to their mum Lorraine. The wine is composed of a blend of 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Shiraz and 7% Merlot. Already this wine is showing early development. Very deep, nearly opaque, black brick red colour and deep brick red hue. Perfumed nose of violet, spice, blackcurrant and cedar. The palate displays flavours of dark chocolate and spice, followed by a hint of tea leaf, blackcurrant and liquorice. Moderate palate length. Aftertaste of cedar, blackcurrant, vanilla and confectionary
Cellar 2-3 years (2008-2009)

Other Reviews…
An impressive blend of 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Shiraz, and 7% Merlot, the 2002 Ode to Lorraine possesses an extroverted bouquet of red and black fruits, pepper, liquorice, cedar, and sweet, toasty new oak. Full-bodied, heady, and rich, it appears to have been made for the quintessential hedonist. It should continue to drink well for 6-7 years.
