2002 Clarendon Hills Brookman Vineyard Syrah (1500ml)

Blewitt Springs, South Australia, AUSTRALIA
$199. 00

$2388.00 Dozen
Closure: Cork

The Brookman vineyard was planted in 1925 on a North West slope in gravel ironstone and clay soil. This is a wine which can be described as being very classy. Bratasiuk refers to the wine as being very pure, reflecting the vineyard perfectly. Again as with the rest of the 2002 Clarendon Hills wines, only old casks were used for maturation.

Tasting Note: Black purple colour. Superb aroma of liquorice allsorts, violets, blackberry, mocca and white pepper. The palate does not disappoint, there is a sense of elegance (not to be confused with lack of flavour). The tannin structure is quite dry, with very spicy blackcurrant, liquorice and intense white pepper flavours. Beautiful balance with real finesse.

Robert Parker's Review
The 2002 Syrah Brookman Vineyard represents the essence of Syrah presented in a inky/black color. Full-bodied an incredibly pure with fabulous intensity. It's the distilled essence of licorice, camphor, blackberry and cassis liqueur presented as wine.
