The Brown Brothers Patricia wines are dedicated to the family Matriarch – PATRICIA BROWN, who passed away in 2004. The wine is made in the vineyard where potential parcels of fruit are identified, then continuously monitored and picked separately at optimum flavour profile. The wine is made at Brown Brothers ‘Kindergarten’ winery where unlike their commercial range of wines, the wine is hand made and nurtured to deliver the finest expression possible for the variety. Some wine collectors may shy away from this wine due to the commercial connotations of Brown Brothers with such popular wines as Spatlese Lexia, however that would be a grave error of judgement.
This wine has been matured for 15 months in new American oak barriques and puncheons. A superb Victorian Shiraz! Opaque black crimson colour with deep crimson hue. Aroma of violets, spice, vanilla and toasted oak, providing a superb sniff. The palate has excellent structure and flavour – vanilla overlaid with violet infusions are followed by ripe blackberry and confectionary flavours. The ripe fruit flavours have a joosy character that is enhanced with a layer of black pepper, spice and black cherry. Perfectly balanced, with velvet tannins and very long aftertaste.

Other reviews......

Spicy, charry oak off-set by sweet plum and blackberry fruit; good mouthfeel and texture.
