Bannockburn Vineyard was founded in 1974 by Stuart Hooper who adopted a no compromise approach to his wines, and established a reputation as Geelong’s foremost producer, ably guided by winemaker Garry Farr. Hooper adopted what at first seems to be an unusual symbol for this vineyard – a bird clutching a fish. This was the Halcyon symbol of Greek mythology, indicating ‘peace and plenty.’ Wine, Hooper believed, was to provide enjoyment amongst friends who find peace and happiness in each others company.

Very deep crimson colour with deep crimson hue. The nose is impressive, with lifted top notes of violets followed by spice and cedar. The palate reveals a touch of earth, followed by truffle, spice, liquorice allsorts and confectionary flavours. Elegant, cool climate structure, with white pepper back palate. Fine dry, perfectly balanced tannins, with very long aftertaste of cedar, white pepper and liquorice allsorts.
Cellar: 4-5 years (2009-2010)
Alc/Vol: 14.7%
