2001 Trevelen Farm Chardonnay

Bright deep straw colour. The wine has been matured for 6 months in French oak, 30% of which was new. Aroma of butterscotch, yeast lees, almond, hazelnut and cashew. The palate flavours drop off which is disappointing given that the nose starts off so well. Butterscotch and grapefruit flavours emerge. The level of acidity is far too high for the fruit. Grapefruit lees, spice and butterscotch aftertaste.
