2001 Te Kairanga Reserve Chardonnay

This wine was fermented in oak with 30% of the barrels being new. Bright, deep straw colour showing bottle developed character and oxidised handling. Aroma of fig, melon, butterscotch and spice, followed by a hazelnut background note. Creamy texture, mouthfilling, with flavours of butterscotch, yeast lees and biscuit over an almond back palate flavour and just a touch of bitterness emerging. Soft acid finish, followed by a fig, melon and spice aftertaste.
