2001 Tatachilla McLaren Vale Merlot

Opaque black crimson colour with black hue. Very ripe mulberry fruit top note with a distinctive tarry quality, followed by notes of vanilla and blackpepper. The palate has good weight with very ripe mulberry fruit over a liquorice background. The structure is somewhat clunkish, missing out on length. Fine tannins, followed by a long spice, liquorice and plum aftertaste.
