Sorrenberg’s blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon are consistently very good, drawing their inspiration from the dry white wines of Graves. The 2001 wine is a touch fruitier than wines from previous years. Brilliant pale straw colour, with subtle green hue. The palate displays notes of nut, yeast lees and a hint of confectionary. The Graves like characteristics appear on the palate, which is a touch fruity, with hints of gooseberry and tropical fruit. Moderate palate length. Clean acid finish, followed by a ripe gooseberry aftertaste.

This wine is developing well and has taken on a Graves like character as distinct from the more obvious grassy – herbaceous profiles associated with the Australian examples of the style. Bright straw colour with pale gold hue. The nose shows some developed character with notes of confectionary and yeast lees emerging over a subtle, smoky background. The palate is relatively full bodied, but showing only moderate length. Subtle grass, confectionary and lees palate flavours emerge. Soft acid finish followed by a confectionary and lees aftertaste.
