2001 Rust En Vrede Cabernet Sauvignon

The motto of this winery reads “ To produce an outstanding wine, passion alone is not enough – One has to be fanatic about doing it right.”We now put the motto to the test. Very deep brick red colour with brick red hue, showing considerable early development. Aroma of tea leaf, spice and cedar followed by a hint of liquorice. The palate reveals flavours of tea leaf over a vegetal background. Dry tannins which over power the palate. Aftertaste of tea leaf, stalk and again that menacing vegetal character. Dry tannins reappear.
