2001 Prince Albert Pinot Noir

Prince Albert Pinot Noir ought to be sensational every year and yet that is not the case. We first saw this wine at the Geelong Wine Show several months ago and found it to be lacking in intensity. More recently it appeared in our tasting line up with little change. Bright crimson mauve colour, translucent with mauve edges. Delicate nose with toasted oak over a layer of spice, cherry and strawberry. The palate flavours are light, without the varietal strength that one anticipates in great Pinot. Soft tannins, delicate aftertaste of cherry, liquorice and spice. .
Cellar 2-3 years. (2004-2005)
