2001 Penny's Hill Vintage Fortified Shiraz (500ml)

A delightful youthful wine, that needs plenty of time to integrate. Opaque black crimson colour, with a deep crimson hue, showing excellent cling to the glass. Classic ‘Vintage Port’ nose, with that very special marzipan quality which is only found in great examples of the style. There is a hint of confectionary, followed by a touch of blackberry and spice. The palate displays excellent concentration of flavour, with blackberry spice layered over a distinctive liquorice background. The spirit remains warm, yet balanced and not showing any harsh characteristics. Very long aftertaste of liquorice, blackberries and spirit. A very youthful port.
