2001 Penny's Hill Malpas Road Merlot

A very substantial red but with more Shiraz character than Merlot. Deep crimson colour with deep crimson hue. The nose is very spicy, with aroma of liquorice allsorts, spice and just a trace of mulberry, followed by a tarry end note. Big mouthfilling palate, very spicy with strong liquorice flavours over a slightly tarry back palate, with just a touch of chocolate. Warm finish, with aftertaste of prune, tar and spice.
