The Oracle Shiraz is Kilikanoon’s flagship wine with the fruit sourced from 40 year old vines located in the Leasingham region of the Clare Valley. The wine spent 24 months maturation in predominantly small French oak hogsheads.A big black wine. Opaque black heart with a black purple hue. The wine clings firmly to the walls of the glass. On the nose the aromas are quite pronounced, with notes of liquorice, spice, violets, vanilla and blackberry emerging, followed by a cinnamon end note. The tannins are firmish but balanced with a predominance of plum flavours over a blackpepper background. Very long aftertaste of vanilla, spice and plum.
Cellar 4-5 years (2007-2008)
Alc/Vol: 14.0%

Other Reviews....
Profound is the 2001 Shiraz Oracle, one of the flagship wines of Kilikanoon. From low yielding 40-year-old vines, produced in open top fermenters, and aged 24 months in 50% new French oak casks, there are 1,000 cases of this spectacular Shiraz. A dense purple color is accompanied by a sumptuous perfume of creme de cassis, blackberry liqueur, scorched earth, smoke, graphite, and espresso. There is tremendous density, remarkable full-bodied power, good underlying acidity, and a big, fleshy, full-throttle finish with fine acidity as well as sweet tannin. While still young, it should age for 10-15 years.
