2001 Katnook Estate Coonawarra Chardonnay

The warm, dry growing season resulted in grapes that developed optimum flavours and balance. The wine has been aged in small French oak for 16 months. Bright deep straw colour. The nose displays a degree of complexity that one expects from Katnook. Layers of hazelnut, yeast lees, cashews and biscuit are followed by butterscotch and fig end notes. The nut flavour profiles continues on the palate, with hazelnut, cashews and almonds to the forefront, followed by spice, yeast lees, hints of grapefruit, melon and fig. Excellent depth. Dry palate, with clean acid finish and dry aftertaste of nut and yeast lees.
