The Heidenreich family have been growing grapes in the Barossa Valley since 1936 at their vineyard in Vine Vale. Noel and Cheryl Heidenreich are the winemakers. Opaque black crimson colour with deep crimson hue. The nose shows a hint of volatility and is followed by notes of ripe plum, spice and liquorice over a roast coffee bean end note. The volatility is carried through onto the palate, but it’s not an overpowering component. Flavours of ripe plum, toasted oak, spice and blackpepper emerge with a ripe prune back palate. The tannins are firm and dry but acceptable. Long aftertaste of dark chocolate and roast coffee.
