2001 Foggo Wines Old Vine Shiraz

The Wilcadene Vineyard that the Old Vine Shiraz is sourced from is owned by Herb and Sandie Van de Wiel. The vines were planted in 1915. Winemaker Simon Greenleaf has produced a very smoky wine. Very deep crimson colour with deep crimson hue. Aroma of smoky mocca, spice and dark chocolate followed by a hint of truffle and just a touch of mint. The palate has excellent length with flavours of spice and dark chocolate evident followed by a toasted oak background. Fine dry tannins well balanced with very long dark chocolate and liquorice allsorts aftertaste.
