2001 was another excellent growing season with exceptionally warm and stable weather during the critical period of flowering in early to mid-December. Virtually no rainfall over the ripening months of March and April enabled the grapes to ripen slowly and in beautiful condition.
Hand harvesting from meticulously managed vines and traditional fermentation techniques have resulted in a wine characterised by intense fruit concentration. Sweet cherry and plum, overlaying savoury herbal notes, with firm finely grained tannins and restrained use of oak combine to make a wine approachable in its youth but with cellaring potential of up to six years and possibly beyond.
