2001 Devil's Lair Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot

An excellent example of Margaret River Cabernet. Opaque crimson colour with deep crimson hue. The nose delivers classic cigar box top note, followed by blackcurrant, cedar and spice with a truffle endnote. Full bodied palate, with cedar and blackcurrant perfectly juxtaposed against spice and mulberry. Fine dry tannins. Excellent balance. Aftertaste of cedar, spice and blackcurrant.

First tasted, March 2004:
A classic tightly knit Cabernet. Opaque black crimson colour with black crimson hue. Aroma of blackcurrant, cedar and spicy oak, followed by a hint of tea leaf and liquorice. The palate reveals flavours of dark chocolate, followed by black cherry and blackcurrant flavours. Fine dry tannins followed by a very long aftertaste of spice and blackcurrant.
