2001 De Bortoli Noble One Botrytis Semillon (375ml)

This wine is held up to the pinnacle of Australian sweet winemaking. The wine is certainly sweet and sticky but lacks finesse and finish. To appreciate this one only has to compare this wine with the humble 1999 Chateau Fayau from Cadillac, France to appreciate the difference – both are around the same price, however the Fayau is a full 750ml bottle whilst the Noble One is only a half bottle.

Bright golden colour. Aroma of apricot, honey and spice with a hint of toffee. The palate is luscious with honey, apricot and lemon butter flavours. The acidity is holding up only just, creating a slightly cloying finish. Aftertaste of honey and apricot.
