2001 Cape Barren Old Vine Shiraz

This wine is produced from sixty year old vines grown in deep sand soils over ironstone. The Blewitt Springs Vineyard produces excellent, concentrated, low yielding fruit. Opaque, black crimson colour with purple hue. The nose impresses with lifted aroma of dark chocolate, cedar, ripe plum, liquorice allsorts followed by end notes of earth and black pepper. The palate fruit flavours are ripe with dark chocolate, spice, blackberry and black pepper evident over a vanilla oak background. Fine grained, dry tannins followed by an aftertaste of earth, spicy oak and dark chocolate.
Cellar 3-4 years. (2005-2006)
