2001 Brand's of Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon

AN OUTSTANDING COONAWARRA CABERNET
Brands Coonawarra Estate was established in 1965 by Eric Brand, and for a long time was one of Coonawarra’s most highly sought after wines. Today the company is owned by McWilliams with members of the Brand family still involved. McWilliams financial muscle has expanded the operation to 180 ha, and lifted the quality of the winemaking dramatically. The wine was matured in a combination of new (35 per cent) and used French and American oak barriques, hogsheads and puncheons for 20 months.

Tasting notes: Opaque crimson colour with black heart and crimson hue. Superb nose – violets, cedar and blackcurrant notes provide an excellent sniffing experience. The palate delivers on all the expectations of the nose with layers of white pepper, blackcurrant and dark chocolate. Fine grained tannins, excellent balance followed by a very long aftertaste of dark chocolate, plum, blackcurrant, dark cherry and cedar.
