The 2000 Kay Brothers Block 6 represents the 108th vintage for the original planting. Opaque black purple, mauve colour, with strong glass cling. The wine is a joyous expression of ripe shiraz, with aroma of plums, spice and liquorice, followed by an end note of leather, earth, tar and prune. The palate has enormous body weight – the hallmark of Kay Brothers Block 6. The oak seems a touch forward this year, and is followed by layers of mocha, dark chocolate, liquorice, vanilla and ripe plums. The tannins are firm, in fact much firmer than that of previous vintages, and should see a reasonably long life ahead for the wine. Very long aftertaste of spicy oak, plum and liquorice.
Cellar 5-8 years plus. (2007- 2010)
Alc/Vol:13.7%
