Grant Burge's flagship wine is named after his Great Grandfather, MESHACH BURGE who began the Burge Family winemaking tradition in the 1860's. The grapes for this wine are sourced predominately from the Filsell Vineyard, where all the vines are over 80 years old. According to Grant Burge it's the age of these vines that accounts for the tremendous power and intensity of the fruit used to make Meshach. After fermentation, the wine was matured in new American & French oak hogsheads for 24 months and then received a further two years bottle age before release.
An outstanding, velvet smooth Meshach. Very deep black heart with black crimson hue. Superb, scented nose. Aroma of cedar, spice, violets, vanilla and liquorice allsorts. A wonderful sniff! Mouth filling palate with velvet smooth tannin back bone. Flavours of black and white pepper, spice, vanilla, mocha and chocolate. Very long aftertaste of dark chocolate, liquorice and vanilla.
