ABV: 46%

Isle of Arran Distillers, first opened in 1995, is one of the few remaining independents in Scotland, based at Lochranza on the Isle of Arran which lies off the West Coast between Ayrshire and Kintyre. The company was set up by Harold Currie, who was previously Managing Director of Chivas (Seagrams) and House of Campbell (Pernod Ricard). Only traditional methods are employed with wooden washbacks and copper stills designed to exacting specification.

From independent bottlers, Gordon & Macphail, this bottling from the Isle of Arran Distillery was distilled in 2000 and bottled in 2012.

Tasting note: Bright pale gold appearance. Moderate to subdued aromatics. Dried fruits are followed by an interesting profile of boiled lollies and salted nuts that rewards with time in the glass as the aromas accentuate. Light entry leads into a solid, concentrated mid palate that’s off dry and shortbread like, yet with a delicious, apply freshness too. Creamy mouth feel. Concludes dry, fresh and bracing as the spices increase. Aftertaste of cut grass and cocoa continues with good staying power. Non chill filtered. Natural colour. 46% Alc./Vol.
