$1848.00 Dozen

Château Lascombes possesses 84 hectares of vines. The vineyard is established on several premium sites in Margaux, notably: La Halle, Le Haut des Eyrins, Les Trois Moulins, Le Maura, Pibran and La Côte, in the Margaux commune, and Bessan, La Bégorce, Le Gendre, Peyron and Bourriche in the Soussans commune. These terroirs are all included in the AOC Appellation of Margaux and benefit from being classified as Second Growth in 1855. The climatic, geological and historical setting in which Château Lascombes flourishes confers to this Second Growth the elements which compose the "terroir" of the Margaux Appellation.

Nicks Tasting Note:-
A beautifully balanced, subtle, refined Cabernet, the sort that has become a rarity in Australia. This wine is relatively low in alcohol – 12.5% (as are many others from this great vintage) however, there is no evidence of greenness.

Opaque black crimson colour. Superb nose of confectionary, violets and blackcurrant. The palate is refined, with blackcurrant, spice and cedar flavours emerging followed by a hint of liquorice allsorts. Fine grained tannins with very long blackcurrant, confectionary aftertaste.
Cellar 8-10 years (2011-2013)
Alc/Vol: 12.5%

RATING: 90/100

VALUE: XXX/5

Tasting Note: The first superb Lascombes in nearly 35 years, this generous, deep ruby/purple-colored 2000 does not possess the complexity or finesse of the 2001, but offers plenty of perfumed, smoky licorice, black currant, and cherry fruit in a medium-bodied, long, concentrated style with no hard edges. While it possesses a more muscular, tannic character than the 2001, it is clearly the finest wine made at this estate since their classic 1966 and 1970. Anticipated maturity: 2006-2016. 90 points
