Yarra Ridge is one of Australia's leading small vineyards situated in the premium cool climate grape growing region - the Yarra Valley. Established in 1983, a succession of trophies and medals at national wine shows attests to the consistent high quality of the wines.
The wine is made from Cabernet Sauvignon grapes sourced from vineyards in the Yarra Valley including Napoleone and Yarra Ridge’s Homestead Block. The 1999 vintage was a very good one - resulting in wines of great flavour and finesse. This is a fine example of a classic cool climate Cabernet Sauvignon.
The ripe fruit was fermented in small open fermenters with regular plunging to extract maximum colour, flavour and fine tannins. After ferment, the wine was transferred to new and seasoned French and American oak barriques for 18 months.
The 1999 Yarra Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon is a vibrant deep crimson colour. Seductive varietal blackberry aromas with a hint of violets are perfectly complemented by spice and cedar from 18 months oak maturation in a combination of new and seasoned French and American oak barriques. On the palate the wine has rich, berry fruit flavours, soft and supple tannins and a lingering savoury finish. Cellar 4 to 6 yearsAlcohol: 12.6 %
