1999 T'Gallant Mornington Chardonnay

This is Kathleen Quealy and Kevin MacCarthy's top of the range Chardonnay, and has the very fine structure of a Blanc de Blanc 'methode champenoise' base wine. A refined style would define the qualities of this wine. Bright pale straw colour. Subtle, yet very appealing aromas of pear, melon, fig, cashew and yeast lees. On the palate the refinement comes through and the flavour is reminiscent of flat 'champagne.' Grapefruit, toasted oak, yeast lees and cashew provide the palate with impressive concentration of flavour, which is supported by a crisp acid finish. Impressive length with cashew, yeast lees aftertaste. Cellar 3-4 years.
