1999 Stephen John Shiraz

This is an impressive Clare Valley Shiraz, made from dry grown vines. Matured for 18 months in 70% American oak and 30% in French oak hogsheads. Very deep crimson colour. The nose displays an earthy animal character with plum and spice underlying leather over tones. On the palate, flavours of black plum, dark chocolate and spice. The palate has very good depth but without the Classic Clare concentration. Fine grained dry tannins, followed by aftertaste of plum liquorice and earth. Cellar 3-4 years.
