The 1998 St Hallett Blackwell was a big success, and the 1999 vintage is just as impressive. Very deep crimson colour. Winemaker Stuart Blackwell has sourced fruit from a number of sites in the Barossa Valley, thus adding complexity to the blend. Aroma of dark chocolate, spice, plum and vanilla followed by a hint of confectionary and earth. The palate has excellent weight and depth, with flavours of ripe plum and spice over a background of ripe plum, chocolate and mocca. Fine grained tannins, excellent balance, followed by a very long spice, plum and vanilla aftertaste.
