1999 Sorrenberg Sauvignon Blanc Semillon

This wine is a very typical of the varietals that appear on the label. It bears absolutely no resemblance to the vast number of Sauvignon Blanc Semillon blends that are to be found in the Australian market.The colour is a fraction too deep for a 1999 wine - well that is the first impression, until one gets to understand the style. Some tropical fruit and gooseberry aromatics, but relatively subdued and will lift over the next 2-3 years. The palate is a total surprise - full bodied with intense palate flavours of tropical fruit, honey, baked apple and confectionery, reminiscent of a full bodied Graves style. Excellent balance, with very long aftertaste.
