1999 Sansibar Nicaragua 17 Year Old Cask Strength Rum (700ml)

Tasting note: Distilled in 1999 and bottled in 2016. Bright amber gold. Captivates in the opening inhalations with scents of fresh cut cane and grass / straw bale underscored by sweeter base notes: coffee-creme, molasses, raw sugar. Five minutes shifts the emphasis to butter menthol / strawberry sponge cake. Off-dry attack is initially bittersweet, green/grassy. Finish is satiny, with the sugars building; flavours of banana fritter, light molasses and cocoa glide over the tongue. Aftertaste hints at raw sugar and banana cake; understated yet long. 47.5% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered and natural colour. 186 bottles.
