1999 Penley Estate Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

This wine is already showing considerable developed character. Opaque brick red colour. Aroma of stewed fruit and leather with a hint of truffle and leaf. On the palate, flavours of dark chocolate, mocha, spice and anise, followed by a hint of toasted oak. The tannins have softened out, but there is still a hint of leaf and the tertiary characters indicate that there is not a lot of future for this wine. Aftertaste of stewed plum and spice, with mocha and leaf lingering.
