1999 Paringa Estate Pinot Noir

Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, AUSTRALIA
$44. 99

$539.88 Dozen
Closure: Cork

We tasted this wine several months ago, and frankly dismissed it as a disaster. It has now recovered somewhat, but by no means compares with the exceptional Pinot Noirs that McCall is capable of producing, and is only a minor example when compared with the best from New Zealand.Medium body, brick red colour with mauve edges. The nose has developed since the first tasting, and displays distinct varietal character with nuances of game and a distinct stalky end note. The palate remains green and hard. Cherry, spice and strawberry flavours emerge over a spicy background. Soft tannin structure, but the acid levels are too high. Lingering rhubarb and spice aftertaste.
